Consulting & Teaching English

If you are a mid- to senior-level business professional looking for an opportunity that challenges you both intellectually and spiritually, LDiTraining's Experiential Business Solutions may be a good fit for you.

If you are a native English speaker with a desire to impact China through teaching English as a Second Language, LDiTraining's English Language and Culture programs may be right for you.

LDiTraining is searching for talented individuals with passion and drive to join both of these programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications vary by position. All candidates must have a bachelor's degree, and professional experience is preferred. For those desiring to work with LDiTraining's Experiential Business Solutions, several years of upper level business experience is required, and Mandarin language skills are preferred. For those interested in teaching English, a TESOL certification and some experience is desirable but not required.

Ultimately, we're looking for people who have a blend of professional skills, a desire to teach and learn, and a passion for serving in China.

If this sounds like you, tell us more about yourself by beginning the application process.

Benefits

The LDi benefits package includes:

  • Housing: Furnished housing in two, three and four bedroom apartments, assigned based on family size. Single staff members often live with other singles during their first term of service.
  • Two hours a week of Mandarin language training.

All staff members are required to raise financial support for these positions. LDi's Partnership Development Coach works closely with new staff to develop a budget and raise all necessary funds.

Application Process

LDi invests a lot of time getting to know candidates through our application process. It is a very thorough process, and we've outlined below all of the activities that must take place. During the process, candidates will have the support of an applicant liaison, who is available to help them answer any questions they might have.

Below is a brief outline of the steps in the LDi Application Process.  The time frames listed are estimates; actual time frames will vary greatly and depend on several factors, including the candidate's speed of completing the required materials, communication times with LDi leadership in China, and the scheduling of assessments and interviews.

Step 1 - Initial Interest:  (approx. 1 week)

  • Candidate completes the initial interest form online.
  • Applicant Liaison contacts candidate upon receipt.

Step 2 - Discovery:  (approx. 2-8 weeks)

  • Candidate completes online form that gathers basic information about professional and cultural fit within the organization.
  • Candidate completes PREP personality profile.
  • Applicant Liaison works with candidate and LDi leadership to determine potential position within the organization.

Step 3 - Application:  (approx. 2-6 weeks)

  • Candidate completes a thorough battery of application materials online.
  • Applicant Liaison collects candidate references.

Step 4 - Medical:  (approx. 2-6 weeks)

  • Candidate submits medical information for self and all accompanying family members.

Step 5 - Follow-up:  (approx. 0-4 weeks)

  • Candidate completes any additional questionnaires or phone interviews needed to clarify previously submitted materials.

Step 6 - Final Interview:  (approx. 1-2 weeks)

  • LDi US HR Director conducts personal phone interview with candidate.

Step 7 - Psychological Assessment and Final Review **:  (approx. 1-4 weeks)

  • LDi arranges for psychological evaluation.
  • Application file is submitted to LDi leadership for acceptance decision.
  • Acceptance decision is communicated to candidate.

** Each candidate and spouse is required to complete a series of assessments (psychological, personality, etc.).  These assessments are only a part of the determining factors used in making an acceptance decision.  The assessments are usually administered through a counseling center in Michigan or near Atlanta, GA.  In this step the applicant is generally asked to travel to one of these locations at LDi's expense for an assessment which takes approximately 2 days.  Scheduling of the psychological assessment is typically delayed until open positions are known.  LDi attempts to accommodate the schedules of candidates, but scheduling must also be made in conjunction with the availability of counselors conducting assessments.

Step 8 - Post-Acceptance: Once accepted, candidates will need to complete a number of tasks to prepare for departure to China

  • Work with LDi Partnership Development Coach to develop a personalized budget and build your Partnership team
  • Acquire passport
  • Undergo medical evaluations (physical examinations)
  • Process Letter of Invitation (LOI)
  • Submit all forms required for employment
  • Apply for visa (after receipt of LOI)
  • Attend LDi New Staff Orientation (NSO), which takes place in late June at Houghton College in upstate New York
